The Dangerous of Morality

The Danger of Morality Without a Moral Judge

Morality in a society is a good thing. I do not deny that. A moral people can help make homes safer, neighborhoods stronger, and communities more stable.

But morality without a moral Judge can also be dangerous.

The danger is clear. People who see themselves as moral rarely see their need for righteousness. They may know how to behave better, but they still may not know Christ. They may have discipline, religion, family values, and good works, but none of those things can save the soul.

Teaching morality may help make a neighborhood safer, but morality alone can still lead to a Christless eternity.

That is why we must be careful not to present morals alone to the lost. The gospel is not simply a call to clean up your behavior. It is a call to be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ.

Many groups today — Muslims, Mormons, Hebrew Israelites, and others — are depending on good deeds, religious discipline, law-keeping, and moral conduct. But if Christ is missing, salvation is missing.

Morality may restrain evil in a society, but only Christ can redeem the sinner.

That is the danger we must not ignore.
